이번엔 현재 개발중인 프로젝트를 소개합니다.

'스피킹 AI 테스트 e-book 빌더'는 PDF파일을 HTML로 변환 하여 쉽게 e-book을 만들수 있습니다. 

많은 콘텐츠가 포토샵, 일러스트 등의 PDF 파일로 제작되어 있습니다.

교육컨텐츠 업체들은 이러한 파일들을 수동으로 재작업 하기도 합니다.  상당히 비효율적인 작업이 되겠죠? 

EBook 빌더를 사용하면 PDF컨텐츠를 웹 베이스의 HTML코드 등으로 변환하고 이를 다시 빌더를 통해 수정 할 수 있으며 콘텐츠를 추가할 수도 있습니다.

MP3파일을 업로드하면 책을 읽어주는 EBook도 만들수 있습니다.  현재 읽는 부분이 어느곳인지 알 수도 있습니다. 웹에서 가능한 AI 스피킹테스트도 구현도 문제없습니다.

[리뷰] M4칩 기반으로 더 얇고 강력해진 아이패드 프로7세대 

애플 아이패드 프로 7세대가 지난 6월 19일 공개됐다. 이번에 출시된 아이패드는 13인치와 11인치 두 가지 모델로 출시되며, OLED 두 장을 겹친 탠덤 OLED 방식의 울트라 레티나 XDR 디스플레이, 온디바이스 AI 기능을 추가한 애플 실리콘 M4 칩, 그리고 더 높은 성능과 활용도를 갖춘 애플펜슬 프로로 성능과 완성도를 크게 높였다.

아이패드 프로 7세대, 6세대보다 더 가볍고 얇아졌지만 성능은 향상됐다 / 출처=IT동아

이례적인 부분은 바로 M4 칩 탑재다. 애플은 올해 3월 맥북에어를 통해 3나노미터 기반의 M3 칩을 새로 공개했는데, 두 달만에 2세대 3나노미터 기반 M4 칩을 공개했다. 시스템 반도체는 최소 1년 6개월 전부터 출시를 준비하므로 M3 이후 두 달 만에 다음 세대 제품이 나온 건 드문 일이다. M4가 예상보다 빨리 등장한 이유는 생성형 AI와 관련해 시장의 요청이 거셌고, 아이패드라는 카테고리가 예전만큼 주목을 받지 못하는 것도 이유였다.

데이터 기반 기업이 되기를 바라는 리더의 핵심 목표는 비즈니스 담당자가 데이터, 예측 모델, 생성형 AI 기능, 데이터 시각화를 사용해서 의사 결정을 개선할 수 있도록 하는 것이다.

 리더는 긍정적인 비즈니스 혜택을 산출하는 더 현명한 의사 결정, 기회에 대응하기 위한 더 빠른 의사 결정, 위험을 최소화하기 위한 더 안전한 의사 결정, 그리고 기업 전반에서 분석 툴을 사용하는 직원 수를 늘리기 위한 변화 관리의 원칙을 추구한다. 또한 이들은 최신 ML 모델과 AI 기능, 새로운 데이터 자산을 사용해 데이터가 규정을 준수하고 보호되며, 안전하도록 보장하는 확장 가능한 솔루션을 찾는다.

SW 공급망 관리 업체 소나타입(Sonatype) CEO 웨인 잭슨은 “경쟁 우위를 점하기 위해서는 경쟁사보다 혁신의 우위를 점해야 하며 이를 좌우하는 것은 신속하고 효과적인 의사 결정이다. 리더는 전체적인 그림을 보고 정보에 근거한 의사 결정을 내려야 하는데, 그 정도의 가시성을 얻기 위해서는 포괄적인 데이터가 필요하다. 그러나 데이터만으로는 프로세스를 개선하거나 가속화할 수 없다. 그 데이터에서 의미를 끌어낼 수 있어야 한다”라고 말했다. 

많은 기업이 데이터 아키텍처에 투자하고 분석 툴을 배포하고, ML 모델을 구축하고, 데이터 시각화 기능을 구현하고도 느린 최종 사용자 도입과 실망스러운 비즈니스 효과에 직면하곤 한다. 데이터 과학 및 머신 러닝 현황 보고서에 따르면, 보유한 ML 모델 중 프로덕션에 배포한 비율이 25% 미만인 기업이 45%에 이른다. 

여기서는 ‘분석 툴 배포’와 ‘의사 결정을 위한 최종 사용자 채택’ 사이의 간극을 해소하는 데 도움이 되는 7가지 단계를 살펴본다. 앞의 4단계는 개별 팀, 부서, 사업부가 분석 개발 프로세스를 개선하는 방법에 초점을 둔다. 뒤의 3단계는 더 큰 범위의 비즈니스와 기업 전반으로 이를 확장하는 방법에 관한 것이다.

AI를 활용한 비즈니스 사례

1. 중국 신용 점수 시스템

중국 산둥성에 있는 룽청시(荣成市) 정부는 2013년 주민들에게 기본 신용 점수 1,000점을 부여했습니다. 좋은 행동이나 나쁜 행동에 따라 점수를 가감하는 시스템을 도입한 것인데요. 예를 들어, 위챗, 포럼, 블로그에 유해한 정보를 유포하면 50점이 감점되고, 전국 수준의 스포츠나 문화 대회에서 우승하면 40점을 받을 수 있습니다. 하지만 이 점수 시스템은 논란을 야기했습니다. 한 주민이 온라인에 의료 사고를 토로한 지 3주 만에 신용 점수 950점을 잃은 것입니다.

이처럼 AI(인공지능) 기반의 신용 점수는 막대한 영향을 초래했는데요. 신용 점수가 낮을 경우 은행 대출이나 신용 카드 발급이 거절되는 건 물론, 신용 점수가 더 낮은 사람은 정부가 제공하는 고용 기회도 박탈 당하기도 했습니다.

2. 헝가리 정부의 중앙화 AI 시스템

헝가리 정부는 약 3만 5,000개에 달하는 CCTV 카메라를 토대로 중앙화된 AI 시스템을 구축했습니다. 경찰이 CCTV 데이터를 토대로 시민을 식별할 수 있도록 생체 인식 데이터베이스와 이를 연동한 것인데요. 정부는 공공질서를 유지하기 위한 수단이라 강조했지만, 시민들의 불만은 고조됐습니다. 하지만 헝가리 경찰은 해당 솔루션을 기반으로 6,000건의 의심 사례를 찾았고 250건의 검문을 수행할 수 있었습니다.

위의 사례들처럼 인공지능에 대한 염려감이 고조되면서, EU는 세계 최초로 AI법(AI Act)을 제정했습니다. 이번 글에선 EU가 제정한 AI법에 대해 알아보겠습니다.

요즘 눈을 뜨면 생성형 AI에 관한 기사를 접할 수 있다. 이 기술이 업무 방식을 완전히 혁신할 것이라는 기대에 부푼 이야기가 많다. 하지만 현재 출시된 AI 툴 대부분은 실제로는 그렇게 인상적이지 않다. 대체로 품질이나 신뢰성에 대한 우려는 거의 없이 약간 다른 곳에 짜깁기된 제품이다. 이런 툴을 사용하면 정확성이 의심스러운 답변을 불러오고, 품질과 독창성이 의심스러운 텍스트와 이미지를 만들 우려가 있다. 살아가는 데 있어 이런 기능이 정말 필요할까?

 하지만 과대광고의 이면에 있는 생성형 AI 시스템은 진정으로 실용적인 가치를 지니고 있다. 여러 툴 사이를 조금만 파고들면 휘황찬란한 광고 문구를 지나 생성형 AI가 잘 활용되고 있는, 사려 깊고 세심하게 만들어진 툴을 찾아낼 수 있다. 여기서는 업무 생산성 향상에 도움이 될 유용하고 보물 같은 생성형 AI 앱 8가지를 소개한다.

 생성AI의 등장으로 디자이너들은 다양한 생성AI 도구를 활용해서 창작을 할 수 있게 되었다. 이러한 창작 활동은 과연 디자이너와 이를 소비하는 대중에게 어떤 영향을 끼치고 있을까? 미국 국립과학원회보(PNAS) 넥서스 저널에 소개된 한 연구 결과를 통해 이에 대한 경향을 파악하고, 디자이너에게 왜 더 높은 수준의 창의성이 요구되고 있는지 알아보자.

해당 연구진은 인터넷 상에서 가장 규모가 큰 예술 작품 공유 플랫폼 중 하나에서 얻은 대규모 데이터셋을 분석했다. 이 데이터셋에는 2022년 1월부터 2023년 6월까지 AI 도구를 사용하여 작업한 5,800여 명의 아티스트를 포함해 총 53,000여 명의 아티스트가 만든 430만여 점의 작품이 분석 대상이 되었다.

마이크로소프트가 AI의 모든 기능을 활용하는 새로운 카테고리의 윈도우 PC를 발표했다. '코파일럿+ PC(Copilot+ PC)'로 명명된 이 기기는 HP, 델, 삼성, 에이수스, 에이서, 레노버 등 PC 제조업체와 협력해 개발했다. 더 강력한 처리 성능과 하루 종일 지속되는 배터리, 다양한 AI 기능을 지원한다.

마이크로소프트의 수석 부사장 유수프 메흐디는 https://blogs.microsoft.com/blog/2024/05/20/introducing-copilot-pcs/" style="text-decoration: none; background-color: rgb(226, 190, 140); color: rgb(0, 0, 255); font-weight: normal;" class="stb-hilitecolor-colored" target="_blank">블로그를 통해 "코파일럿+ PC는 수십 년 만에 윈도우 플랫폼에 가장 중요한 변화다. 우리는 칩에서부터 운영체제, 애플리케이션 계층, 클라우드까지 PC 전체를 완전히 새로 만들었고, 그 중심에 AI가 있다"라고 설명했다. 첫번째 코파일럿+ PC 제품은 퀄컴 스냅드래곤 X 시리즈 프로세서를 사용한 기기로 6월 18일 출시된다. 인텔과 AMD 칩을 사용한 PC도 이어서 나올 예정이다.

AI 성능과 보안에 방점

마이크로소프트는 코파일럿+ PC에 AI 기능을 추가하기 위해 CPU, GPU, NPU를 결합해 '완전히 새로운' 시스템 아키텍처를 설계했다. 최근 출시된 인텔의 AI PC용 칩 인텔 메테오 레이크 프로세서가 초당 10조 회 연산(TOPS)하는데, 마이크로소프트가 새로 만든 칩은 40조 회 연산한다. 메흐디는 "이 새 칩이 코파일럿+ PC에 들어간다. 강화된 코파일럿+ PC는 애저 클라우드에서 실행되는 대형 언어 모델(LLM)과 소형 언어 모델(SLM)에 연결되고 이전에는 볼 수 없었던 수준의 성능을 낸다. AI 워크로드 실행 성능이 20배 더 강력하고 최대 100배 더 효율적이다"라고 주장했다. 

코파일럿+ PC가 기업에 의미하는 것

코파일럿+는 생산성, 창의성, 커뮤니케이션을 위한 강력한 툴을 제공해 업무 처리에도 도움이 될 전망이다. 테크아크의 수석 애널리스트 파이살 카우사는 코파일럿+ PC가 개인보다는 기업에 훨씬 더 유용할 것으로 본다. 그는 "기업은 AI의 힘을 제대로 활용할 수 있는 방대한 데이터를 보유하고 있어 더 유리하다. 또한 오늘날 기업에서 사용자는 복잡한 미로처럼 얽힌 앱을 사용한다. 이를 기억하고 서로 연결, 대화하는 등의 작업은 온전히 사용자의 몫이었는데, 코파일럿+를 통해 AI가 이런 복잡한 작업을 대신  처리할 수 있다"라고 말했다.

[GPT] GPT-4o 출시하자 '챗GPT' 모바일 앱 수익 급등  

오픈AI의 새로운 모델 'GPT-4o' 출시로, '챗GPT' 모바일 앱 수익이 역대 최대폭으로 뛰어 올랐다. 벌써부터 반응이 심상치 않다.

테크크런치는 20일(현지시간) GPT-4o 출시 다음 날인 14일에 챗GPT 모바일 앱의 순수익이 최대 90만달러(약 12억원)를 기록했다고 보도했다. 이는 챗GPT 앱 일일 평균 49만1000달러(약 6억7000만원)의 거의 2배에 달하는 수치다.

모바일 분석 회사인 앱피규어의 데이터에 따르면, 챗GPT 모바일 앱의 순수익은 GPT-4o 출시 당일에 처음으로 22% 증가했으며 이후 며칠 동안 계속해서 늘어났다.

지난 4월에는 역대 두번째에 해당하는 62만2670달러(약 8억5000만원)의 수익 급증이 있었지만, 당시에는 단지 비정상적으로 높은 수익을 올린 날이었을 뿐 규모는 훨씬 작았다.

하지만 13일에서 17일 사이에는 애플 스토어와 구글 플레이에서 총 420만달러(약 57억원)의 순수익을 올렸으며, 이는 역대 최대에 해당한다.

특히 이는 GPT-4o가 웹에서 무료로 제공됨에도 불구하고 월 19.99달러(약 2만7000원)의 챗GPT 플러스 구독 가입자에게만 제공되는 챗GPT 모바일 앱에 대한 구독 수요가 증가한 결과다.
챗GPT 구독료는 넷플릭스 구독보다 비용이 더 비싸다. 즉 모바일에서 최신 AI 음성 비서를 경험해 보려는 수요가 엄청나다는 것을 의미한다는 분석이다.

아마존이 올해 말 대화형 인공지능(AI)을 탑재한 음성 비서 '알렉사(Alexa)'를 선보일 예정이라고 CNBC 방송이 소식통을 인용해 22일(현지시간) 보도했다. 

 최근 오픈AI와 구글, 애플에 이어 아마존도 대화형 AI를 탑재한 음성비서를 출시할 계획이 확인됨에 따라 텍스트 기반을 넘어서 사람과 음성으로 대화까지 할 수 있는 'AI 비서'를 둘러싼 경쟁이 치열해질 전망이다.

 디자인 업계는 인맥과 경력이 중요한 분야입니다. 취업 시장에서는 이미 유명한 디자인 회사나 브랜드에 근무한 경험이 있는 사람들이 우대되기도 합니다. 또한, 디자인 회사나 스튜디오의 경우 인원이 적고 채용 공고를 내지 않는 경우가 많습니다. 그래서 인맥을 통해 정보를 얻거나 추천을 받는 것이 중요합니다. 이런 인맥을 형성하기 위해서는 학교나 학원에서부터 선후배나 동료들과 친밀한 관계를 유지하거나, 다양한 네트워킹에 참여해야 합니다.

[IOS] “마침내 애플이…” iOS 17.2 베타 4에 기본 알림음 변경 기능 추가

 지금까지는 아이폰의 기본 알림음이 마음에 들지 않더라도 어쩔 수 없었다. 애플은 기본 알림음을 변경하는 방법을 제공하지 않았기 때문이다. 그렇게 아이폰의 ‘삼중 톤’ 소리는 스마트폰 알람의 대명사가 됐다.

 물론 애플은 벨소리를 포함해 메시지 및 음성 메시지 수신음, 캘린더 알림, 미리 알림 등 특정한 알림음을 변경할 수 있도록 허용했지만, 그 외의 알람음은 아이폰의 기본 설정을 따라야 했다. iOS 17 이전에는 기본음이 삼중 톤이었으나 iOS 17 출시부터 애플은 여러 가지 소리를 업데이트하면서 기본 알림을 리바운드(Rebound)로 변경했다. 삼중 톤보다 부드럽지만 일부 사용자는 너무 조용해졌다고 불평하며 이전으로 돌아가고 싶어 했다.

 iOS 17.2에서 애플이 알림음 설정을 더 개선했다. 기본 알림음을 삼중 톤으로 복원할 수 있을 뿐 아니라 기본 알림음과 햅틱을 원하는 대로 변경할 수 있도록 한 것이다.

[WIFI] '와이파이=공짜'…사라지는 유료 와이파이 요금제

 SKT 'T 와이파이 존' 요금제 내달 종료

 유료 와이파이를 사용할 수 있는 SK텔레콤 'T 와이파이 존' 요금제가 내년 1월 사라진다. 통신 이용 환경이 변화하면서 공공장소와 각종 점포 등 모든 장소에서 '와이파이=무료' 공식이 성립된 영향이다.

 SKT는 5일 "T 와이파이 존 유료 상품인 월 정액권과 일시 이용권이 2024년 1월 31일부로 종료된다"며 "이에 따라 2023년 12월 31일부터 신규가입이 중단될 예정"이라고 밝혔다. SKT 휴대전화·태블릿PC 등 요금제 가입자들은 계속해서 무료로 T 와이파이 존 서비스를 이용할 수 있다.

 SKT는 2012년 유료 와이파이 요금제를 내놓았다. 당초 모든 통신사 가입자에게 무료로 서비스를 제공했으나, 이용자가 늘면서 트래픽이 급증했기 때문이다. 서비스 품질 관리를 위해 SKT 고객에겐 무료 와이파이를 제공하고, 별도로 유료 요금제를 출시했다. SKT 기본 요금제에 가입된 스마트폰, 태블릿PC 이용자는 무료로 와이파이를 이용할 수 있지만, 그 외 와이파이 접속 기능이 있는 기기 이용자는 T 와이파이 존 월정액관(월 5000원) 또는 일시 이용권(3시간 1000원·24시간 2000원)을 구매해 이용해야 했다.

 그러나 모바일 이용 환경이 변화하면서 상황이 달라졌다. 스마트폰 보급이 늘어나면서 카페, 음식점, 쇼핑몰 등 어디를 가든 기본 서비스로 방문객에게 와이파이를 무료로 제공하고 있다. 정부도 무료 공공 와이파이망을 전국에 깔았다. 올해까지 전국 공공장소 5만8000곳에 공공 와이파이가 구축됐다. 지난해 공공 와이파이를 이용한 누적 접속자는 92억명에 달한다. 이들로 인해 발생한 트래픽은 66PB(페타바이트)에 달해 HD급 동영상 5796만편을 본 것과 마찬가지다.

 마이크로소프트(MS)는 AI 종합 솔루션인 코파일럿에 오픈AI가 개발한 GPT-4 터보를 장착한다고 5일(현지시각) 발표했다. 새 코파일럿에는 GPT-4 터보 모델뿐 아니라 이미지 생성기인 달리3(DALLE-3), 검색 엔진 ‘빙(Bing)’용 심층 검색 기능이 장착된다.

 이날 MS는 자사의 블로그를 통해 이 같이 밝혔다. 핵심은 GPT-4 터보 모델이다. 해당 버전은 12만8000토큰까지 입력이 가능하다. 그만큼 코파일럿이 질문을 더 잘 이해하고 더 나은 응답을 제공할 수 있다는 설명이다. 이에 대해 MS 수석부사장겸 소비자 최고 마케팅 책임자인 유섭 메흐디는 “현재 일부 사용자를 대상으로 테스트 중”이라면서 “앞으로 몇 주 안에 코파일럿”에 광범위하게 통합될 것이라고 설명했다. 업데이트는 크게 여섯 가지다.

[IT] 윈도10 보안 업데이트 3년 연장한다

MS, 2025년 기술지원 종료→유상 ESU 프로그램 운영

 (지디넷코리아=김우용 기자)마이크로소프트가 2025년 10월14일 윈도10의 기술지원 종료 후 3년 간 유상 기술지원 프로그램을 운영한다.

 5일(현지시간) 아스테크니카에 따르면, 마이크로소프트는 윈도10의 보안 업데이트를 3년 더 제공받을 수 있는 확장 보안 업데이트(ESU) 프로그램을 운영할 예정이라고 발표했다.

“자바 18 릴리스의 꽃” 심플 웹 서버 시작하기

 자바 18 릴리스(2022년 3월)에 포함된 가장 유용한 새 기능이 바로 '심플 웹 서버(Simple Web Server)'다. HTTP 파일 서버를 손쉽게 가동하고 구성할 수 있게 지원할뿐만 아니라, 단순한 사용 사례에서 기존 httpserver 패키지를 확장하는 API도 제공한다. 이 새로운 심플 웹 서버는 모든 자바 개발자가 익혀 둬야 할 유용한 툴이다. 어떤 기능인지 살펴보자.

명령줄의 심플 웹 서버

 자바의 새로운 jwebserver 명령을 사용하면 기본적인 웹 서버를 간단히 실행할 수 있다. 파이썬에서 인기 있는 SimpleHTTPServer 툴과 비슷하다. 첫 번째 단계는 자바 18 또는 그 이상의 릴리스를 실행하는 것이다. java –version을 입력하면 현재 실행 중인 릴리스를 확인할 수 있다. https://sdkman.io/" target="_blank" rel="noopener" style="padding: 0px; color: rgb(0, 0, 255); text-decoration-line: none;">SDKMan을 사용해 JDK 설치를 관리할 것을 권장한다. 여러 버전 사이를 오갈 때 특히 유용하다.

 자바 심플 웹 서버로 할 수 있는 가장 기본적인 작업은 포트 8000에서 현재 디렉터리를 제공하는 것이다. <예시 1>의 명령을 입력하면 된다.

명령줄 구성

 명령줄에서 심플 웹 서버를 세부 조정하기 위해 몇 가지 일반적인 작업이 필요할 수 있다. 예를 들어 포트, 바인딩할 주소(수신 대기할 네트워크 인터페이스), 제공할 디렉터리를 변경할 수 있다. <예시 2>에서는 포트 8080, 모든 인터페이스, 그리고 /foo/bar 디렉터리에서 수신 대기하는 방법을 볼 수 있다.

[IOS] 아이폰에서 운전 중 문자에 자동 답장하는 방법

 운전하면서 나와 상대방의 안전을 가장 위협하는 것이 바로 휴대폰을 조작하는 것이다. 특히 문자를 주고 받는 것이 위험하다. 그런데 때로는 운전 중이어서 답변을 보낼 수 없다는 것을 상대방에게 알려야 할 때가 있다. 이런 때를 위해 애플은 자동 답장 기능을 지원한다.

 이 기능을 사용하려면 일단 집중 모드에서 운전 집중 모드가 자동으로 활성화되도록 해야 한다. 설정 > 집중 모드 > 운전 집중 모드로 이동하면 된다. '운전하는 동안' 옵션을 클릭하면 다음과 같은 선택사항이 나온다.
 

활성화 : '자동' 옵션이 기본 값이다. 하지만 항상 차량에 연결한다면  '차량 블루투스에 연결될 때'를 선택하는 것도 좋다. '수동'으로 설정한 후 운전하기 전에 제어 센터에서 활성화할 수도 있다.
카플레이로 활성화 : 카플레이가 설치된 차량을 가지고 있다면 이 옵션을 사용하면 편리하다. 카플레이를 사용하느냐에 따라 운전 중인지가 결정된다.

 이제 운전 중일 때 어떤 답변을 할 지 설정할 수 있다. 설정 > 집중 모드 > 운전 > 자동 응답 메뉴에서 답변할 메시지를 정할 수 있다. 기본 값은 "집중 모드를 켠 채로 운전 중입니다. 목적지에 도착한 후 메시지를 확인하겠습니다(I’m driving with Focus turned on. I’ll see your message when I get where I’m going)"이다. 자동 응답 대상은 없음, 최근 연락, 즐겨찾기, 모든 연락처 중 고를 수 있다.

[AI] 루닛 "유방암 검진 AI 설루션, 전문의와 비슷한 진단수준"

 의료 인공지능(AI) 기업 루닛은 연구를 통해 유방촬영술 AI 영상분석 설루션 '루닛 인사이트 MMG'의 유방암 진단 능력이 전문의와 유사한 수준임을 확인했다고 13일 밝혔다.

 이 같은 연구 결과는 미국영상의학회(RSNA)가 발행하는 국제학술지 '래디올로지'에 게재됐다.

 영국 노팅엄대 얀 첸 교수 연구팀이 주도한 이번 연구에는 영상의학과 전문의 315명과 유방 임상의 31명을 포함한 총 552명의 의사가 참여했다.

 이들은 연간 최소 5천건 이상의 유방촬영 영상을 개별적으로 분석하는 전문가 집단이라고 루닛은 설명했다.

 연구팀은 2018년 5월부터 2021년 3월까지 영국 국가 유방검진 프로그램에서 발생한 120건의 까다로운 진단 사례를 활용해 의료진 개인별 판독 결과와 루닛 인사이트 MMG의 판독 결과를 비교했다.

 [파이낸셜뉴스] 국내 온라인 동영상 서비스(OTT) 시장에서 쿠팡플레이와 디즈니플러스(+)가 존재감을 키워가고 있다.

 차별화딘 스포츠 콘텐츠가 강점인 쿠팡플레이는 지난달 월간실사용자수(MAU) 기준 티빙을 앞질렀고, 국내에서 고전을 면치 못하던 디즈니플러스는 주요 신작 '무빙'으로 이용자들을 불러 모으고 있다. 결국 OTT 시장에서 킬러 콘텐츠(핵심 콘텐츠)를 확보하고, 흥행시키는 것이 중요하다는 평가가 나온다.

 13일 앱·리테일 분석 서비스 와이즈앱·리테일·굿즈가 국내 스마트폰 사용자(안드로이드와 iOS)를 표본조사한 결과 지난달 쿠팡플레이 애플리케이션(앱) 사용자 수는 634만명으로 집계됐다. 지난 5월부터 쿠팡플레이 사용자는 가파르게 증가해 지난달 역대 최고치를 기록한 것이다. 전년 동월 대비 사용자가 가장 많이 증가한 OTT 앱도 쿠팡플레이였다. 쿠팡플레이는 지난해 8월 402만명에서 올해 8월 634만명으로 이용자수가 232만명 증가했다.

 스포츠 중계와 자체 콘텐츠가 주목 받으며 꾸준한 성장세를 기록하는 것으로 보인다. 쿠팡플레이는 K리그를 비롯해 스페인 프로축구 등을 독점 중계하며 스포츠 팬들을 대거 유입시키고 있다. 또한 'SNL코리아'와 같은 주요 콘텐츠에 대한 관심도가 높아진 것으로 분석된다.

 현재 개발 환경 분야에서는 매일 새로운 언어와 기존 언어에 대한 개선이 쏟아지고 있다. 모질라의 러스트, 애플의 스위프트, 젯브레인스의 코틀린, 그리고 실험적 파이썬 변형인 모조(Mojo) 등이 대표적이다. 모두 개발자에게 속도, 안전성, 편의성, 이식성 및 성능에 대한 폭넓은 선택권을 제공한다. 이런 변화 중 상당수가 언어, 특히 컴파일러를 구축하기 위한 새로운 툴이다. 컴파일러 중에서도 대표 주자인 http://llvm.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener" style="padding: 0px; color: rgb(0, 0, 255); text-decoration-line: none;">LLVM은 스위프트 언어를 만든 일리노이 대학의 크리스 래트너가 처음 개발한 오픈소스 프로젝트다.

 LLVM을 사용하면 새로운 언어를 만드는 것뿐만 아니라 기존 언어 개발을 강화하는 작업도 더 쉽게 할 수 있다. LLVM은 새로운 언어를 만드는 과정에서 힘들기만 하고 티는 나지 않는 많은 부분, 예컨대 출력된 코드를 여러 플랫폼과 아키텍처로 이식하기, 벡터화와 같은 아키텍처별 최적화 생성하기, 예외와 같은 일반적인 언어 메타포를 처리하기 위한 코드 작성하기 등의 작업을 자동화한다. 자유로운 라이선스 덕분에 소프트웨어 구성요소로 원하는 대로 재사용하거나 서비스로 배포할 수 있다. 

 LLVM을 사용하는 언어는 이미 우리에게 익숙한 것이 많다. 애플의 스위프트 언어는 LLVM을 컴파일러 프레임워크로 사용하고, 러스트는 러스트 툴체인의 핵심 구성요소로 사용한다. [주목!] 맬웨어 감염된 확장 프로그램, 크롬이 경고해 준다

 브라우저의 기능이 개선되고 다양해지면서 그 자체로 하나의 작은 소프트웨어 생태계가 되고 있다. 그 결과, 브라우저가 공격 표적으로 점점 더 부상하고 있다. 브라우저 확장 프로그램은 기능이나 도구를 추가해 준다는 점에서 인기가 높지만, 스파이웨어 등을 컴퓨터에 쉽게 불러올 수 있는 경로이기도 하다. 

 구글의 최신 크롬 보안 조치는 잠재적인 악성 확장 프로그램을 더 쉽게 발견하는 것을 목표로 한다. 크롬 개발자 블로그에 따르면 크롬 117 버전부터 3가지 새로운 검사 기능이 제공된다.

 이를 통해 크롬은 설치된 확장 프로그램이 더 이상 크롬 웹 스토어에 없을 때, (1) 확장 프로그램이 개발자에 의해 크롬 웹 스토어에서 제거됐는지, (2) 구글의 확장 프로그램 정책을 위반해 수동으로 제거됐는지, (3) 맬웨어로 분류됐는지를 확인하고 알려준다. 또 사용자는 ‘개인정보 및 보안’ 설정 메뉴의 알림을 통해 이미 설치한 확장 프로그램을 수동으로 검토할 수 있다.

[IT] 네이버, 모바일 뉴스판에 ‘지역뉴스’ 카드 신설

 네이버는 모바일 MY뉴스에 ‘지역뉴스’ 카드를 신설했다. 보다 다양한 지역 밀착형 뉴스를 제공한다는 취지다.

 18일 네이버에 따르면, 이달 17일 오픈한 지역뉴스는 언론사가 분류한 지역 정보와 AI기술 기반으로 추천된 지역 관련 뉴스를 제공하는 공간으로 이용자가 직접 관심 지역을 설정할 수 있도록 했다.

 17개 광역시도 단위 지역 한 곳을 설정할 수 있으며, 향후 ‘현재 위치 기반’ 지역 설정도 가능하도록 서비스를 확대할 예정이다.

 네이버 뉴스 이용자는 관심 지역의 사회·문화·경제·행정 등 다양한 이슈를 편리하고 빠르게 확인할 수 있으며, 이용자가 관심 지역을 설정하지 않으면 17개 광역시도 지역기사가 시의성·품질 등을 고려한 AI기술 기반으로 추천된다.

 네이버 뉴스 김혜진 리더는 “뉴스 다양성을 강화하기 위해 지역뉴스 카드를 새롭게 선보였다. 다양하고 생생한 지역밀착형 소식이 뉴스 이용자에게 전달될 수 있도록 서비스를 고도화해나가겠다”고 밝혔다.

 네이버는 다양한 뉴스 제공을 위해 심층기획 기사, 매거진 등도 소개하고 있다. 모바일 MY뉴스 ‘깊이가 느껴지는 시선’ 카드에서는 이달의 기자상 등 언론상 수상작을 소개하고 실시간 성격의 속보, 스트레이트 보도 내용과 구별되는 취재 기획 기사를 볼 수 있는 공간도 운영 중이다.

[AI] 이런 것도 가능? 확산되는 AI 기반 업무 자동화

 [IT동아 김영우 기자] ‘주 4일제’ 근무제도가 선진국들을 중심으로 확산되고 있다고 한다. 마이크로소프트 일본지사의 경우는 주 4일제 제도를 도입한 이후 생산성이 40%나 향상되었다는 소식도 들린다. 국내에서는 삼성전자, SK텔레콤, 카카오게임즈 등의 기업이 주 4일제 제도를 일부 부문에 도입해 시범 운영한 바 있다.

 주 4일제 제도가 본격적으로 주목 받은 계기 중 하나는 2021년을 전후해 세계를 강타한 코로나19 팬데믹이었다. 이를 통해 일터에 직접 나오지 않고도 업무를 볼 수 있는 업무 환경 디지털화가 빠르게 진행되었다. 그리고 코로나19 팬데믹의 고통이 컸던 만큼, 일 뿐만 아니라 삶과의 균형까지 추구하는 이른바 ‘워라벨’이 중요하다는 인식도 확산되었다.

 이와 더불어 또 한가지 빼 놓을 수 없는 것이 바로 인공지능이하 (AI) 기반 자동화 기술의 확산이다. 한때 AI는 먼 미래에나 체감할 만한 환상의 기술 정도로 인식되었다. 2016년에 구글의 ‘알파고’가 이세돌 9단과 바둑 대결을 벌여 승리할 때만 해도 그러했다.

[이슈] “韓, 온라인 보안 인식 전세계 최하위”

노드VPN, 국가 보안 인식 테스트에서 175개국 중 꼴찌 기록

 노드VPN이 ‘국가별 개인 정보 보안 인식 테스트 결과’를 발표했다. 이 통계에서 우리나라는 온라인 보안 인식과 개인정보보호 인식이 전세계 최하위를 기록했다.

 175개국 2만6174명을 대상으로 진행된 이번 조사에서 우리나라 국민들은 100점 만점에 46점을 획득하는데 그쳤다. 이는 전세계 평균 61점에 한참 못 미치면서 175개 국가 중에서도 가장 낮은 점수다.

 노드VPN에 따르면, 한국인들은 특히 온라인 보안 프로그램을 이용한 디지털 개인 정보 보호, 가정용 와이파이의 안전한 사용법에 대한 지식 부족을 드러냈다.

 조사에서 한국 내 온라인 보안의 중요성과 방법에 대해 잘 알고 있는 응답자의 비율은 2%에 불과했는데, 보안에 대한 지식이 거의 없는 응답자의 비율은 6%에 달했다.

 우리나라 응답자 중 50% 정도는 인터넷 이용시 개인정보 유출의 위험이나 각종 멀웨어 감염에 대한 위협이 있다는 것을 인식하고 있었지만, 이를 방지하기 위해 보안 프로그램을 사용하는 등의 실질적인 조치를 취하는 응답자는 36%에 부족해 보안 실천 행동의 부족을 나타냈다.

 노드VPN 조성우 한국지사장은 “온라인이 차지하는 영역이 점점 더 넓어지고 종류가 다양해지면서 보안은 더욱 복잡해져 개인이 보안을 위해 대응을 어렵게 만들고 있다”며 “광범위하고 간편한 대응을 위해 신뢰할만한 보안 프로그램의 사용을 일상화하는 것이 무엇보다 중요하다”고 전했다.

 한편, 이번 조사에서 최고의 인터넷 개인정보보호와 사이버 보안 인식을 가진 국가는 각각 64점을 기록한 폴란드와 싱가포르가 차지했다.

 독일과 미국이 63점으로 그 뒤를 이었으며, 이외에 영국, 오스트리아, 포르투갈 등이 62점을 기록하면서 상위권에 이름을 올렸다.

더 쉽고 빠른 파이썬” 파이파이(PyPy)의 이해

 파이썬은 강력하고 유연하며 다루기 쉬운 언어로 유명하다. 이런 장점 때문에 방대하고 다양한 애플리케이션과 워크플로우, 분야에 사용된다. 그러나 인터프리티드 언어인 데다 런타임의 동적 특성 때문에 파이썬은 C, C++와 같은 머신 네이티브 언어에 비해 속도가 훨씬 더 느리다는 고질적인 단점이 있다. 개발자들은 오랜 시간 동안 파이썬의 속도 제한을 극복하기 위한 다양한 방법을 고민해왔다. 예를 들어 성능 집약적인 작업을 C로 작성하고 이 C 코드를 파이썬으로 래핑하는 방법 같은 것이다. 많은 머신러닝 라이브러리가 실제로 이 방식으로 동작한다. 또는 파이썬 코드에 런타임 형식 정보를 섞어 C로 컴파일할 수 있게 해주는 프로젝트인 사이썬(Cython)을 사용하는 방법도 있다.

 그러나 차선책은 이상적인 방법일 수는 없다. 그냥 파이썬 프로그램을 그대로 가져와 훨씬 더 빠르게 실행할 수 있다면 좋지 않을까? 그 대답이 바로 https://pypy.org/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener" class="stb-marked" style="display: inline-block; color: rgb(0, 0, 255); text-decoration-line: none;">파이파이(PyPy)다. 
 

파이파이 vs. C파이썬 

 파이파이는 기본 파이썬 인터프리터인 C파이썬(CPython)을 대체한다. C파이썬은 파이썬을 중간 바이트코드로 컴파일하고 이 바이트코드가 가상머신에 의해 인터프리트되는 방식인 데 반해, 파이파이는 JIT(Just-In-Time) 컴파일을 사용해 파이썬 코드를 머신 네이티브 어셈블리어로 변환한다. 

 수행하는 작업에 따라 http://speed.pypy.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener" class="stb-marked" style="display: inline-block; color: rgb(0, 0, 255); text-decoration-line: none;">상당한 정도의 성능 향상이 가능하다. 평균적으로 파이파이는 파이썬 3.7에 비해 파이썬 속도를 약 4.7배 더 높여주며 일부 작업에서는 50배 이상의 속도 향상이 가능하다. 새로운 버전의 C파이썬 인터프리터에도 특정 종류의 JIT 최적화가 추가되고 있지만 현재 파이파이의 범위와 효과에 비할 바는 아니다. 앞으로 대등해질 가능성을 배제할 수 없지만 적어도 지금은 아니다.

 가장 좋은 점은 파이파이가 제공하는 효과를 얻기 위해 개발자가 따로 해야 할 일이 거의 없다는 것이다. C파이썬을 파이파이로 바꾸기만 하면 된다. (다음에서 설명할) 몇 가지 예외는 있지만 파이파이의 공식적인 목표는 기존의 파이썬 코드를 수정 없이 실행하면서 자동으로 속도를 높여주는 것이다. 

 현재 파이파이는 파이썬 2와 파이썬 3을 각기 다른 프로젝트 구현으로 모두 지원한다. 즉, 실행할 파이썬의 버전에 따라 다른 버전의 파이파이를 다운로드해야 한다. 파이파이의 파이썬 2 브랜치가 나온 시점이 훨씬 더 오래됐지만 파이썬 3 버전도 최근 거의 따라잡았다. 현재 파이썬 버전 3.9까지 지원하며 파이썬 3.10은 실험 수준에서 지원된다. 파이파이는 모든 핵심 파이썬 언어를 지원하는 것 외에, 패키징을 위한 pip, 가상 환경을 위한 virtualenv 등 파이썬 생태계의 방대한 툴과도 호환된다. C 모듈을 사용하는 패키지를 포함해 대부분의 파이썬 패키지는 변경 없이 그대로 동작한다. 물론 일부 제한도 있다. 이는 아래에서 살펴본다.
